Pasta 2.0 Takes Center Stage + Welcome Octane
To our longtime Community Grains customers it will likely come as a bit of a shock to hear that we have officially begun the process of phasing out our initial Organic pasta line. Earlier this year we teased this possibility with the introduction of our Organic Pasta 2.0 product to the market. However, we didn't want to fully transition pastas until we felt Pasta 2.0 was truly better than its predecessor.
Now, that day has arrived. After experimenting with a variety of recipes, digesting constructive purveyor feedback, and hearing from our local customers new and old, we feel strongly that Pasta 2.0 is our product of the future.Â
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning this week we will phase out our Fusilli pasta. We still have a small amount of Pipe Rigate pasta available, so if you know and love our flagship pasta or simply want a piece of Community Grains history, now is the time to buy!
Today, you can already purchase our Organic Pasta 2.0 online at our online marketplaces and at Good Eggs. If you're a Bay Area local you can find Pasta 2.0 throughout the region at speciality grocery stores and chains. Currently, we're offering Pasta 2.0 in three varieties: Pipe Rigate, Fusilli, and Torchiette. Â
Looking ahead, we have a lot of exciting products in the pipeline, including a new wheat variety!
We know many of our loyal millers and bakers rely upon the complex combination of our sweet, nutty Patwin wheat kernels and our bright, full bodied Summit wheat kernels. So, when we learned that our farmer Fritz Durst would be moving on from Summit wheat we set to work searching for an alternative. Luckily, we didn't have to look far as Fritz presented us with a new red wheat that he felt surpassed the qualities of Summit wheat .Â
Enter, Octane. A new red wheat varietal, endowed with a gorgeous amber color, robust flavor, high protein content, and tremendous gluten strength. In preparation for this transition we've had a number of our wholesale bakery accounts try this wheat and we've received rave reviews. We plan to introduce Octane to our online marketplaces in December. We can't wait to hear what y'all think.
Thank you all for your continued support of Community Grains. None of our work is possible without you.
Happy Holidays!
